RECREATION LEAGUE - FALL
The Tonka United Fall Recreation season provides players from Pre-K through High School with a community-based soccer league experience focused on fun, participation, inclusion, and connection. Leagues are formed by current 2026/27 school-year grade and gender, and the season runs 7 weeks from August 23 through October 10.
All players register for the Rec League, which features weekly games led by Volunteer Parent Coaches, supported by RDP Staff, and a consistent, family-friendly schedule. Players now also have access to the Recreational Development Program (RDP), an optional, US Soccer license Staff Coach led training experience that adds professional coaching and structured development during the week. In addition to RDP, for our youngest players (U4–U8), Tonka Juniors continues to provide an age-appropriate, class-based introduction to soccer throughout the season.
RDP — Two Ways to Play. One League. More Choice.
For just $50 more than Rec League, the Tonka United Recreational Development Program (RDP) adds 4 US Soccer license Staff Coach led training sessions to your player’s season, bi-weekly, delivering more touches on the ball, structured development, and a clear pathway toward Pre-Comp and Competitive Team opportunities, all while staying on the same team with friends. Learn more and explore RDP on our RDP webpage.
Important Seasonal Notes:
Save More with Early-Bird & Multi-Player Discounts:
10% off any package if you register by July 25, 2026
5% off any package if you register 2+ players in the same transaction
RDP registration is completed during your Rec League registration as an
optional add-on package.
New for Fall 2026: RDP Staff will replace Junior Refs on Pre-K to 2nd Grade Game Days. They will serve as Game Managers, leading the game while actively coaching and developing players on the field. Parents Volunteer Coaches will still lead the Pre-K to 2nd Grade teams on the side-line, and through the season.
On 3rd Grade to High School Game Days, RDP Staff will support Volunteer Parent Coaches from the sideline by coaching and developing players. If a referee is unavailable, RDP Staff will step in to manage the game.
Important Note:
because Labor Day falls late this year, we have built the first two weeks as a training and preseason period, including an open scrimmage day on Sept. 5. Games will begin once all players are back in school, and the season will end Oct. 10 to avoid scheduling games over MEA weekend.

CONFIRM CORRECT GRADE & PACKAGE BEFORE REGISTERING
If your PlayMetrics account
shows an incorrect grade or you would like to request to play up, please contact
Rec Director, Sean Downey
to adjust your account or registration.
Before registering for the league.
Please double check you are registering for the correct grade, once rosters and schedules are released
we will not make changes.
Grade selection in PlayMetrics follows national, birthdate-based standards, not when your player's specific schooling began. We strongly recommend keeping your player in the auto-assigned grade to support a healthy, balanced league.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT FOR REC PROGRAM
Tonka United’s Recreation Program has been powered by volunteers for 45+ years. As our league continues to grow, volunteer support remains essential.
Each family pays a single $100 volunteer deposit at registration, refunded after completing one volunteer shift or serving as a Parent Volunteer Coach. Compared to many other programs that charge $300+ and require multiple shifts, our requirement is simple, but essential: one family, one fee, one shift.
Families may opt out by forfeiting the deposit, which helps fund finacial aid, and keeps the league running at a high standard.
You can Sign Up for SignUpGenius Shifts SOON or Volunteer to be a Parent Coach during registration.
