For Tonka United's players playing or wishing to play on the top team in each age group; and OPEN TO ALL players wishing to play for Tonka United.

- A commitment to attending these sessions is an important measure in our team selection process. Player attendance is required.
- Please note that there will not be any options for make-up sessions for any of the the field observations.
- All Team selection sessions are scheduled by the age group a player will be moving up to (based on the player’s Fall 2010/Summer 2011 age group and gender: http://www.mnyouthsoccer.org/leagues/birthyear.cf

Soccer is a year round sport and for our top teams a commitment to Fall (Sept-Oct) and Spring/Summer (April-July) play is expected. If players wish to particiapte in other sports they can as practice sessions in the fall are flexible. Players are encouraged to sign up for fall soccer even if they can only attend weekend games. This will encourage continued player development in the game.

In addition players are strongly encouraged to practice at least once per week during the Winter (Jan-March).
- Spring Only: If you do not intend to play fall soccer but wish to play in the Spring you must complete an intent to play form.

Open Tryouts for players who are currently playing for another club will not take place until August 1-5, 2010 (see open tryout dates below). Tonka United has organized a 2 hour travel squad assessment session for each age group. Players will be observed in small sided and large sided games time permitting.

*An Introduction to Travel Soccer
For U8 Boys & Girls teams forming for Fall 2010 & Summer 2011
U8 Players Date of Birth must fall between: 8-1-02 to 7-31-03
Dates: Friday June 25, 2010 12:30pm-2:30pm
Location: Minnetonka Middle School West (MMW)
U9 Players Date of Birth must fall between: 8-1-01 to 7-31-02 and should attend the Saturday June 19 tryout.
Parents & players are invited to attend & meet our Director of Coaching and Coaching Staff.Players will be placed into small sided games after a typical travel soccer warm up, whilst parents receive an introduction to travel soccer in a relaxed and informal environment. Parents will have an opportunity to listen and ask questions during the session.This is not a tryout as such as we look to place ALL players on a travel team for the Fall season (if numbers permit). Our aim is to have as many players as possible experience the transition from recreation to travel soccer in a fun and safe environment.
No need to register, just show up at the scheduled time with your child ready to play. We look forward to seeing you on the pitch!

Existing Tonka United players receive many opportunities to be observed and evaluated over time (Fall, Winter, Spring & Summer) to ensure that we select the most beneficial level of play for each player. In assessing a player’s ability we believe that it is vitally important to observe players over time in order to be fair to each player and to give our team selection process validity.
